NETS Repayment
In accordance with the New Economy Technology Scholarship (NETS) Master Promissory Note signed by all NETS recipients, NETS funds received by a student will be converted to a repayable loan if the recipient fails to:
- Complete their program of study.
- Maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
- Maintain Pennsylvania residence.
- Complete the internship (SciTech only).
- Fulfill their work obligation (recipients who begin but fail to complete the work obligation must repay a portion of funds received).
AES/PHEAA administers repayment and will contact the recipient in writing to advise him/her of the repayment terms. Repayment must begin when the six- (6) month grace period expires. Interest may be assessed daily from the date eligibility was lost at the annual rate of 8 percent. Repayment can be deferred while the recipient is enrolled as a full-time undergraduate. Recipients may contact the Agency at the address and telephone number below for other possible deferment options.
Nonpayment for a period of 120 days results in default, at which time the entire outstanding balance becomes payable. The recipient's default will be reported to national credit reporting agencies and legal action may be initiated, including wage garnishment.
