Adolph Re-Elected to Chair PHEAA Board
Pennsylvania's students continue to benefit from Board's leadership
Harrisburg, PA (February 12, 2009) - PHEAA announced today that Representative William F. Adolph, Jr. has been re-elected to chair the PHEAA Board of Directors for the third consecutive year.
Representative Adolph has represented Delaware County's 165th Legislative District since 1989. He serves as chairman of the House Professional Licensure Committee and as a member of the House Consumer Affairs Committee. He was appointed to the PHEAA Board of Directors in 2001, serving on the Board's Executive Committee from 2003 through 2006.
“The current status of the economy makes it more critical than ever that we provide Pennsylvania's students and families with affordable access to higher education and their future dreams of success,” said Adolph. “Working alongside the other dedicated members of the PHEAA Board of Directors, we will continue to strengthen the future of this Commonwealth through our youth.”
Under Adolph's leadership, PHEAA has faced countless challenges. Yet, despite the current state of the student loan industry, PHEAA's doors remain open when many of its competitors have shut down operations. This is thanks to the most strict travel and business expense reimbursement policy of any Commonwealth organization and an aggressive cost-cutting campaign, as well as the continued commitment of PHEAA staff.
“At PHEAA we remain focused on the goal—providing affordable access to higher education,” continued Adolph. “We've made the necessary sacrifices to continue operating for the benefit of this Commonwealth and I commend the Board and the employees of PHEAA for recognizing the need to make the right changes. However, our work is not finished and we will continue making the necessary reforms to ensure that Pennsylvania is always best served by this great organization.”
The PHEAA Board of Directors also re-elected Senator Sean Logan (D-Monroeville) as Vice Chairman of the Board.
Members elected to serve on the Executive Committee are:
Senator Robert M. Tomlinson (R-Bensalem)—Chairman
Representative James R. Roebuck, Jr. (D-Philadelphia)—Vice Chairman
Senator Vincent J. Hughes (D-Philadelphia)
Representative Sandra J. Major (R-Montrose)
Honorable Roy Reinard (Holland)
Honorable A. William Schenck, III (Pittsburgh)
