Families can access document online at PHEAA.org
Harrisburg, PA (September 24, 2008) - PHEAA announced today that the annual Guide to Student Aid is available online, at no cost to Pennsylvania students and families, at www.PHEAA.org/sag.
The Guide is the most comprehensive document available outlining the financial aid process and providing in-depth information on all student financial aid programs that are available to Pennsylvania students, including the need-based State Grant. The Guide offers information on financial aid options, how to determine one’s financial need, how to apply for aid, including information on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and descriptions of available programs.
“Our Student Aid Guide provides the information that families need to make informed decisions about funding their higher education,” notes PHEAA Board Chairman, William F. Adolph. “This year, the Guide is also available online so that students and parents can access the information from the convenience of their home computer.”
The Guide provides:
- Timelines for getting ready for college
- Information on grants, scholarships, loans and work-study programs
- Eligibility information, application procedures and deadlines
- Helpful resources and contact information
- Tools to help you create a student budget that estimates your expenses
- Ways to identify your financial need and how you may qualify for aid
- Online resources for forms, research, calculators and much more
Students and their families will also find an excellent information resource at EducationPlanner.org, created for students in grades 8-12. This award-winning college planning website assists students in choosing a career, selecting a school, applying for admission and finding aid. The site is home to one of the world’s largest free scholarship databases offering more than 1.8 million awards worth nearly $8 billion.
